Zoo Page A Day ~ Day 13

My not so little guy seems to have caught what his Dad has, and is sleeping right now, so thought I would get on and share real quick.  I have a feeling it will be movie time and snuggles when he wakes up. Here are the pages for today.  There were so many birds all over the Zoo!  Some were tricky to get photos because of glass and wire...but I did get a few shots of some of them.  Tomorrow will be the last Zoo page a day!  At least for now.  The digital part of the album.  I will work on the traditional pages most likely at my retreat in a month.  I have plenty of other stuff that I can share though.

Zoo Page a Day ~ Day 11 and 12

I was a slacker again and missed a day...but my poor Hubby had worked 13 days straight and got sick.  So my weekend was spend mostly by his sickly side.  Men are such babies when they are sick!!  (At least mine is) Who knew that Prairie Dogs could be so cute and entertaining as well as fun to scrapbook!!  I am trying to get better at my digital pages and have been looking up some tutorials online on how to do some things.  The title for the elephant page is from the tutorial.  But I like the way that it turned out.

Zoo Page A Day ~ Day 9 and 10

So this post is a little late.  Had a stressful day and ended up falling asleep before I got to post today...er...yesterday.  So here it is.  It is the other one that I had already put on my family blog.  Below is today's page.  :o)  Was probably my least favorite part of the Zoo...but Tristan got a kick out of me being squeamish!!

Zoo Page a Day ~ Day 8

So proud of me remembering to post every day.  Of course, I usually do multiple posts at one time and have them ready to go, all I have to do is hit post from my phone.  Oh the joys of technology. :o) This is one of the two pages that I had put on my family blog before I decided to separate the two.  But it is probably my favorite page...so I am going to throw it in here.  I really could spend all day in there!! I think a trip to the Butterfly House will be in order soon too.  I hear it is great too.

Zoo Page A Day ~ Day 7

I have to say that the Penguins were AMAZING!!  We enjoyed them SO much that we ended up going back in there more than once.  It was over 100 degrees that day too though, and it was FREEZING in there!!  Tristan loved them too.  Can you tell that in the pics?

Zoo Page A Day ~ Day 6

Another double page spread today.  Posting these pages makes me want to go back to the Zoo SO BAD and scrapbook too!!  I would love to go back on a cooler day and stay from open to close!!  Can't wait for Spring!!  As for scrapbooking...I haven't felt good for a few days...so I must make myself do the housework I neglected yesterday while vegging on the couch watching TV with Tristan.  (Even though I don't feel any better today) Maybe I will get to work on some power layouts later after school and housework.  I am planning pages to work on at a scrapbook retreat the end of February.  I go once a year with friends, and it is always such a great time!! Have a great day to anyone stopping by today.  Leave comments if you do read, so I know I am not talking to myself! LOL!!

A few cards

I am doing something different this year and am going to keep track of how many cards and scrapbook pages I make in a year.  This card was made for a friend that happens to own just about every other card I have made already, since she goes to the same Stamp Club as me, so I made this for her.  I have decided that I need to have a box of card that I make to have to send to the girls that are in my Stamp Club.  The card below is my Swap card that I made for Stamp Club in January.  I wasn't able to go, but I look forward to getting back in a groove soon though.

Zoo Page A Day- Day 4

If you haven't been to the St. Louis Zoo to see the new Sea Lion Sound, then you will have to go!!  It is amazing!!  Another double page spread again since I had to take so many pictures to capture the beauty of the attraction.

Zoo Page a Day- Day 3

Today you get to enjoy two pages, since it is a double page layout.  Something you may not realize about digital scrapbooking is that you can get A LOT of freebies for digital scrapbooking that include full kits.  I haven't had to buy but a few kits so far that I just had to have, but they are usually just a few bucks.

Zoo Page A Day- Day 2

One of the reasons that I really like digital scrapbooking is being able to use a lot of pictures, and not having to get all those pics printed.  You only have the one print of the scrapbook page to print.  I still love my traditional as well. Here is today's page. :o)

Zoo Page a Day

After going to The St. Louis Zoo and taking tons of pictures, I knew that our family vacation would turn into a full album.  I decided to help the process and do some digital Zoo pages when I have time.  I shared a couple on my Family blog before I decided to separate the two blogs.  I won't work on the album again probably until the Scrapbook retreat next month, but I have plenty to share that I have done already.  Would love to hear your feedback on them.

Being Frugal and Having Fun

Yesterday, I babysat for my two Great Nephews, and Tristan had a friend over as well.  Any of you know that sometimes you need to be right there with the kids to referee and just make sure things go smooth...so I decided while I was doing that I would make some candles.  What I do to make my candles is save the wax that is left over from my old candles.  I have a container that I just put it all in and when I get quite a bit...I make my homemade candles from the wax that most people throw away.  I bought a bog of candle wick that you cut to the size you need and it was a few bucks for A LOT.  I also keep my old candle jars too to make the candles.  I put an old canned good can in a saucepan, and then I put my wax in there on a low heat to melt it.  I take a paperclip and put the wick through it, pour a little bit of wax in the bottom of the jar and put the paperclip in the hot wax.  This keeps the wick in place.  Then I tie the top of the wick around a small paintbrush and lay it across the top of the candle jar.  This keep your wick from pulling over to the side or down into the jar when you pour the wax.  I like to separate my candle wax by colors and scents, because I like the look of the different colors of layers, but you could just melt it all at the same time and it be easier.  When I am doing layers, I will sit the candle in the freezer until the layer sets, and then do the next.  I love the finished product and like knowing that I saved money by recycling the wax that would have ended up in the trash.

Decided to Change

I decided to do two different blogs that keep my craft stuff separate from my family stuff.  Which means designing a new blog.  Will be a work in progress. But maybe I will keep up better this way. :o) Figured the "Thacker Family News" wasn't really getting the time it needed, so maybe I can do more on there and get it out to more family.
